AESTHETIC IN THE CITY SILHOUETTE; HORIZONTAL ARCHITECTURE

After the Covid-19, with the change in the need and demand in the construction industry, horizontal construction, which is the dream of most architects, started to be applied more. Horizontal architecture is a form of construction in harmony with nature, with low-rise or detached buildings, in which houses are spread over larger areas. One of the most important advantages of horizontal construction, which provides private areas for people, allows them to come into contact with the soil and plays a protective role in natural disasters such as earthquakes, is its positive effects on human health. Horizontal structuring contributes to the transverse expansion of the city’s construction and the aesthetic order to come to the fore. This type of construction is actually a system where we are not far away, we lived in the neighborhood culture before we moved to the age of advanced technology, we ate fruit from our garden with our neighbors, we knew our grocer, and our butcher, our greengrocer, and we lived in times when there was no traffic congestion.

Due to the transition to the era of advanced technology, immigration to metropolitan cities and the shortage of land depending on increasing population density, the construction of vertical form structures has been emphasized in recent years. This situation caused mass agglomerations; it has begun to threaten the health of the city people who cannot contact nature and who are isolated in terms of relationships, both physically and spiritually.

Cities formed by vertical construction create a chimney effect that damages our world. However, when we consider the share of land and its costs, we cannot deny the vertical construction one hundred percent. On the other hand, it is a must to limit it. Our cities, whose historical silhouettes are being destroyed day by day with vertical architecture, will preserve their cultural textures thanks to horizontal construction, and they will take on an aesthetic form with low-rise buildings.

Horizontal architecture will bring many advantages in terms of preventing air pollution by reducing the accumulated energy chimneys, minimizing global warming and seasonal anomalies, and enabling a quality life without being away from nature. In order to support both the return of the neighborhood culture and the increase of social activities; when it comes to human health and protection priority from disasters, it will be inevitable to move to horizontal architecture.
